A Memorable Spaghetti Supper

It was an honour for us to sing with Guy Filion (Baritone), immediate-past president, who celebrated his 77th Birthday at our annual Spaghetti Supper this past Saturday, September 23, 2023. It was a poignant moment; it was perhaps the first time since pre-pandemic days for him to sing in a quartet at this signature South Shore Saints event.

In June, our baritone Andre relocated to the city of Sherbrooke. It was only a few weeks ago that we asked Guy if he could step in to help us prepare some songs for this event. We were grateful that he accepted, for without him, we could not have performed for our supporters.

We were confident with the first song, Crazy Little Thing Called Love (Queen). Our second, With a Little Help From My Friends (The Beatles), had been a challenge. In fact, when we ran through the song just before taking the stage, we were tripped up again by the lyrics. We faced a choice: to sing one song, or ask our friends in the audience ... for a little help!

 

Sheet music in hand, we took our chances with home-field advantage. Fortunately, the joyous occasion worked in our favour. There is nothing like singing at Spaghetti Supper, for we are at home with friends. Just as so many sports teams perform better at home, singing at this event reminded us of how important the power of love we feel from our audience is. Thank you for helping us rise to the occasion!

We will surely keep you all in mind when we attend the 2023 Northeastern District Fall Convention in Nashua, New Hampshire, at the end of October.

 Une expérience désolante qui se termine bien Afin d'être invité à chanter à la conférence et concours d'automne du Northeastern District (NED), un quatuor doit se qualifier lors d'un concours de division au printemps. Lors de la conférence et concours du printemps 2023, la chorale South Shore Saints, le Very Large Quartet (VLQ) Little Devils ainsi que le quatuor Recycled Parts se sont tous qualifiés pour la conférence d'automne 2023.  La situation fut toutefois différente pour le quatuor 4Give n 4Get.   4Give n 4Get, conférence NED avril 2022 En route pour la conférence du printemps 2023, le quatuor s'est heurté à la bureaucratie américaine à la frontière.  Un des membres s'est vu refusé l'accès aux États-Unis parce qu'un nouveau document était maintenant requis.  Tout a été tenté afin d'obtenir le document à temps mais ce ne fût pas possible.  Ainsi, le quatuor n'a pas pu participer à ce concours.   Levée de fonds Dîner Spaghetti / Spaghetti Dinner Fund Raising Event This past Saturday, 23rd September 2023, the   South Shore Saints Chorus   held a Spaghetti Dinner fund raising event.  In the tradition of their previous spaghetti dinners, the chorus and the chapter's quartets offered a set of   Barbershop style songs .    4Give n 4Get , with a replacement Barytone, sang two songs.
